Routines and Fertilization
For the first time, I used the Dry Start method in a setup. This process starts the aquarium with only hardscape and substrate, without light, plants, or livestock. The goal is to establish the nitrogen cycle without plant melt, ammonia spikes, or unwanted algae. This makes the initial phase easier and more stable.
During this period, I didn’t perform water changes. Once it was complete, I drained the tank, planted normally, and refilled it.
Currently, I do water changes twice a week and test NPK levels almost daily to track nutrient consumption. Based on the results, I adjust fertilization, adding micronutrients, potassium, and occasionally nitrate to maintain an NPK ratio of 15:1:10.
